Tuesday, October 6
Story Time: This Old Castle, Starring Lady Dragon, McCracken County Public Library (555 Washington St., Paducah), 10 a.m. and 1 p.m., free.
Join Ms. Retta, Bob Dog, and Ms. Cherri as they share with young and old alike in their special program of stories, puppets, and songs. Each program is designed for preschoolers and their caregivers. Tuesdays.

Wednesday, October 7
Lunch at the Library: Why We Read Mockingbird Today, McCracken County Library (555 Washington St., Paducah), 12 p.m.-1 p.m., free.
Join WKCTC English Professor Emeritus Andrew Halford for a special National Endowment for the Arts program, The Big Read, edition of Lunch at the Library. Enjoy your sack lunch and thought provoking discussion of the themes and characters in To Kill A Mockingbird. Open to the public. (This event will be aired on October 13 on Channel 7 at 7 p.m.) A box lunch will be provided by a friend of the Carson Center to the first 20 participants to register by calling Mary Katz at the Carson Center, (270) 443-9932, x250.

Thursday, October 8
Graves County Public Library Story Hour (601 North 17th Street, Mayfield, KY), 10 a.m.-11 a.m., free.
Hear story books, sing silly songs, play games, make nifty crafts and eat goodies! Parents are invited to help children with the crafts and the refreshments. Please call the library at (270) 247-2911 to enroll your child. Every Thursday morning.

Saturday, October 10
To Kill A Mockingbird: Movie Screening, McCracken County Public Library (555 Washington St., Paducah), 2 p.m., free.
Complement your reading and enjoyment of To Kill A Mockingbird with a free movie at the Library. Every Saturday during the month of October, the Library will show the 1962 version of To Kill A Mockingbird, starring Gregory Peck. Join old or new friends afterward for coffee downtown and a discussion comparing the movie with the book. Part of the National Endowment for the Arts program, The Big Read.

Saturday, October 10
West Kentucky Christian Writers' Group, Concord UMC (brick house/office behind church, 5178 Hinkleville Rd., Paducah), 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., free.

Pam Whinnery Book signing, Judeen's Art Studio & Gallery (720 Harrison St., Paducah), 5 p.m.-7 p.m., free.
Pam Whinnery will be signing her book, Favorite Recipes of Kentucky Celebrities. The book features recipes from famous celebrities with ties to Kentucky and recipes from various historical locations, tourist attractions, and unique Kentucky celebrations. Artist/gallery owner Judeen and Merri Melde (The Equestrian Vagabond), whose recipes are included in the book, will also be available for the signing. Saturday, October 10
MHT River City Ghost Tour: Legends & Lore, Market House Theatre (132 Market House Square, Paducah), 6 p.m., aprox. $14.
Walk through historic Downtown and LowerTown and discover Paducah's haunted past in Market House Theatre's River City Ghost Tour: Legends and Lore. All ticketholders must be ages 6 and up. Tours last approximately 40 minutes and leave on the half hour starting at 6 p.m. and ending at 9 p.m. Tickets on sale beginning September 15.
