Monday, October 12
Book Ends Book Club: The Innocent Man by John Grisham, Graves County Public Library (601 N. 17th Street, Mayfield), 5:30 p.m., free.
The Book Ends Reading Club meet the 1st Monday of the month (except for October and holidays) at 5:30 pm in the Library. New members are invited to attend and to join in the lively book discussions. Every month a new book is chosen for discussion. You will receive your copy of the book from the Library and read it prior to the meeting. Books are furnished by the library on loan from the Kentucky Department of Libraries in Frankfort or borrowed from nearby state libraries for the Book Club.

Tuesday, October 13
Story Time: Nitro Joe's Science Show (It's a Gas!) ; McCracken County Public Library (555 Washington St., Paducah); 10 a.m., 1 p.m., and 3 p.m.; free.
Join Ms. Retta, Bob Dog, and Ms. Cherri as they share with young and old alike in their special program of stories, puppets, and songs. This week's program includes special guest Nitro Joe. Each program is designed for preschoolers and their caregivers. Tuesdays.

Wednesday, October 14
Meet Andy the Armadillo, McCracken County Public Library (555 Washington St., Paducah), 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., free.
Share a story with Andy the Armadillo every second Wednesday of the month. Each child who attends will receive a Texas Roadhouse coupon for a free kid's meal.

Thursday, October 15
Graves County Public Library Story Hour (601 North 17th Street, Mayfield, KY), 10 a.m.-11 a.m., free.
Hear story books, sing silly songs, play games, make nifty crafts and eat goodies! Parents are invited to help children with the crafts and the refreshments. Please call the library at (270) 247-2911 to enroll your child. Every Thursday morning.

Thursday, October 15
Garden Painting Party, McCracken County Public Library (555 Washington St., Paducah), 2 p.m.
Come paint your own version of the Radley House! In celebration of the N.E.A. event, The Big Read, we will be painting the quintessential spooky/haunted house from Harper Lee’s To Kill a Mockingbird. Reading the book first is recommended! Tea and cake will be served. Paint, brushes, and canvas provided. Please RSVP to register; we only have room for 20 participants. To Kill A Mockingbird: Movie Screening, McCracken County Public Library (555 Washington St., Paducah), 2 p.m., free.
Complement your reading and enjoyment of To Kill A Mockingbird with a free movie at the Library. Every Saturday during the month of October, the Library will show the 1962 version of To Kill A Mockingbird, starring Gregory Peck. Join old or new friends afterward for coffee downtown and a discussion comparing the movie with the book. Part of the National Endowment for the Arts program, The Big Read.

Saturday, October 17
MHT River City Ghost Tour: Legends & Lore, Market House Theatre (132 Market House Square, Paducah), 6 p.m., aprox. $14.
Walk through historic Downtown and LowerTown and discover Paducah's haunted past in Market House Theatre's River City Ghost Tour: Legends and Lore. All ticketholders must be ages 6 and up. Tours last approximately 40 minutes and leave on the half hour starting at 6 p.m. and ending at 9 p.m. Tickets on sale beginning September 15.
