Story Time: Funny Halloween “ Lite”; McCracken County Public Library (555 Washington St., Paducah); 10 a.m., 1 p.m., and 3 p.m.; free.
Join Ms. Retta, Bob Dog, and Ms. Cherri as they share with young and old alike in their special program of stories, puppets, and songs. Each program is designed for preschoolers and their caregivers. Tuesdays.

Marshall County Public Library Book Club, Benton branch (1003 Poplar Street, Benton, KY), 10:30 a.m. to noon, free.
In October, the Marshall County Public Library Book Club will be reading from the works of Elmore Leonard, author of over fifty works, including Get Shorty, The Big Bounce, LaBrava, and 10 Rules of Writing. Read a work (or two) by Leonard that strikes your fancy, and then come join the discussion. Book club meets the 4th Tuesday of each month.
