Events for March 1 Through March 7

Monday, March 1
Book Ends Book Club: The Sinister Pig by Tony Hillerman, Graves County Public Library, 5:30 p.m.
This month the book club will be discussing the mystery The Sinister Pig. New members are invited to attend and to join in the lively book discussions. Every month a new book is chosen for discussion. Copies of the books are freely furnished by the Library and members read them prior to the meeting. Book kits are borrowed from the Kentucky Department of Libraries in Frankfort or from nearby participating libraries for the Book Club. All you need to do is just call the Library at (270) 247-2911 to sign up. They'll have a copy of the book waiting for you.

Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man Book Discussion, Christ Temple Church (523 North 12th St., Paducah), 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Saturday, March 6
Comic Book & Toy Show Featuring Mark Goddard of Lost in Space, Harrah's Metropolis (Riverfront Event Center, 100 Front St. Metropolis, IL), 9:59 a.m., $5 admission.
The city best known for its super hero connection is the site of a Comic Book and Toy Show on Saturday, March 6 (10 a.m.-5 p.m.) and Sunday, March 7 (11 a.m.-4 p.m.). Enjoy a variety of vendors showcasing comics from the 1940s to present-day, vintage Star Wars toys, autographed celebrity items, games, T-shirts, western items and more. $5 admission each day includes a free poster, door prize drawings and free admission to the Super Museum and Americana Hollywood. Featured guest: Mark Goddard, best known as Major Don West in the cult 1960s TV series, Lost in Space. Regional artists Will Woods, Jay Chuppe, and Sean Dulany are part of the show as well as the Paducah Imperials Star Wars Fan Club. Beauty and the Beast, Carson Center (100 Kentucky Ave.,
Paducah), 2 p.m. & 7:30 p.m., aprox. $29 to $59 per ticket.
Beauty and the Beast, the sixth longest-running show in Broadway history, tells the story of Belle, a young woman in a small, provincial town, and the Beast, a prince trapped under an enchantress' spell. If the Beast can learn to love and to be loved, the spell will be broken and he will be transformed back to the prince he really is. But time is running out, and if the Beast does not learn his lesson soon, he will be doomed for eternity. Purchase online!
