Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man Book Discussion, Christ Temple Church (523 North 12th St., Paducah), 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Faith in Film: Babette’s Feast, Maiden Alley Cinema (112 Maiden Alley, Paducah), 6:30 p.m., $4 at the door.
Faith in Film kicks off its third season at Maiden Alley Cinema with a showing of the Academy Award-winning film, Babette's Feast (based on the story by Isak Dinesen). All are welcome, regardless of your beliefs, or faith background. An optional discussion of the film, hosted by First Baptist Church, will be held after the movie. The Faith in Film series is sponsored by several area churches-—Grace Episcopal, First Presbyterian, Fountain Avenue Methodist, Arcadia Methodist, Broadway Methodist, First Christian, and First Baptist churches. Garth Stein, Author, The Art of Racing in the Rain; West Kentucky Community & Technical College (Clemens Fine Arts Center); 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.; free.
WKCTC welcomes Garth Stein, author of the New York Times best-selling literary novel, The Art of Racing in the Rain. Stein's book tells the heart-wrenching but deeply funny and ultimately uplifting story of family, love, loyalty, and hope--the way only a dog can tell it. Stein is also the author of How Evan Broke His Head and Other Secrets and Raven Stole the Moon. Stein offers a 2 p.m. presentation for WKCTC students, faculty, and staff; and the general public. At 7 p.m., he'll offer a keynote presentation geared to general audiences. Meet the author after his presentations at a reception and book signing. Reading groups are being held at WKCTC, area schools, public libraries, and book clubs.

There is a Boy in the Girls Bathroom; Market House Theatre (132 Market House Square, Paducah); 7:30 p.m.; $10 adults, $6 kids 12 and under.
Fifth grader Bradley Chalkers is bright, imaginative, antisocial and friendless. Unlike the kids at school, who hate him, Bradley's collection of chipped and broken little pottery animals allows him to be brave, smart and vulnerable; he uses them to resolve the rejection of peers and adults. Jeff, a new boy at school, offers friendship but then withdraws his offer, because Bradley is hard to like. Enter Carla Davis, new school counselor, who is caring and funny, and who gradually helps restore Bradley's self-confidence. Based on the juvenile novel by Louis Sachar. Clara M. Eagle Gallery presents an exhibition of Artist Books by Karen Kunc of Blue Heron Press and selected works from the Blue Heron Press Collection, located in Lincoln, Neb. This fantastic display of text and image blends visual and literary voices, highlighting cultural and historical themes in both form and concept. This exhibition showcases individual and collaborative works by both nationally and internationally recognized artists. West Kentucky Songwriters: Stan Webb and Friends, West Kentucky Community & Technical College (Clemens Fine Arts Center, Paducah), 7:30 p.m., $6.
West Kentucky Songwriters, a chapter of Nashville Songwriters Association International, will be joined by professional songwriter Stan Webb for the next Backstage Pass. Stan Webb’s "I’m from the Country" was recorded by Tracy Byrd and earned him a 1998 SESAC Country Song of the Year Award. Webb also received SESAC’s Legacy Award in 2003. Featured writers from the West Kentucky group are Bob Cain, Joe Hansen, Laurie Whitnel, Janet Miller, and Justin Hatcher. Desserts and beverages available.
