Teen/Tween Summer Reading Program: Body Art and Tandem Drawing, McCracken County Public Library, Body Art: 1 p.m. to 1:45 p.m., Tandem Drawing: 2 p.m. to 2:45p.m., free.
Body Art--Wear your shorts and tees for this workshop! Decorate yourself (or a friend) with cosmetic crayons. Limit 10.
Tandem Drawing--Imagine drawing a picture together with someone, at the same time, on opposite sides of a wall of glass. That’s tandem drawing! Session limited to 8 participants.

All children should be accompanied by an adult. Mother Goose is a program in which your child will participate in activities geared towards young readers. It will include books, games, and crafts. This is a great way to introduce your child to the world of reading!

Express Yourself: Young Adult Summer Reading Program, Marshall County Library (3 locations: 1003 Poplar Street, Benton, KY; 23 Park Road, Calvert City, KY; and 104 2nd Street, Hardin, KY), free.
For students who are going to be in the 7th through 12th grade this fall. Sign-up at the circulation desk of your favorite branch of the Marshall County Public Library. Then work hard to accumulate points during the months of June & July. Get lots of cool prizes and a chance to win a $150 Night On The Town Gift Card Collection. Be Creative @ Your Library, Calloway County Public Library (710 Main Street, Murray, KY), sessions at 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., free (but registration is required).
Participants must choose one session and participate in that session for the duration of the program. Participants can NOT switch sessions from week to week. All programs are filled on a first come, first served basis. Registration will continue until sessions are filled. To register please return a completed form to the library. NO registration will be taken over the phone nor by fax.

The Library Toddlers program introduces group interaction and features a story, music, and toy time.

The Library Preschoolers program features stories, music activities and crafts. Parents participate with their children as well as assisting their child with listening and sitting skills, activities, and crafts. Age 3-6 years accompanied by an adult. Limit 15 preschoolers with their adults. Meeting dates will be June 10, 17, 24 and July 1, 8, & 15. Registration has begun for the summer story time programs and will continue until all programs are filled.

Murray State University’s Low-Residency MFA in Creative Writing Program’s Summer 2009 residency will feature Kentucky literary legend Ed McClanahan, civil rights writer John Egerton, and poet Ilya Kaminsky as visiting writers.
